My Background

I've been a therapeutic practitioner since 1988, when I graduated with a Diploma in Holistic Massage Therapy from the College of Holistic Medicine in Glasgow.

 

I worked as a massage therapist for many years and was one of the Community Massage teachers in Manchester in the late 80's and early 90's, before moving to California and completed more training, getting a diploma from the College of Intuitive and Healing Massage in Santa Barbara. . 

 

I did not achieve anything at school, and was expelled from one school for bad behaviour, so I felt a great sense of accomplishment to go back to studying in 1999, and passed the Certificate in Education after 3 years. I taught Swedish Body and Indian Head massage courses at further education colleges in Cheshire for some years.

 

During this time of teaching, I continued with my adult education and eventually achieved a BSc (Hons) in  Complementary Therapies in Practice from the University of Salford in 2007.

I started teaching young students with emotional and behavioral difficulties and saw that my skills were not adequate, so I studied Counselling Supervision and Emotional Education from Salford and Derby Universities from 2008 to 2011. These courses taught me valuable skills of listening and gave me a range of insights to understand and help my students more effectively.

I realised quite quickly that the courses I studied only went so far and much more knowledge and introspection was essential if I was going to fully understand the emotional world

so I travelled from Manchester to Cheltenham for 4 years to train as a counsellor with the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and passed my Diploma in Emotional Therapeutic Counselling in 2015.

The essence of my work is to facilitate your emotional self-growth by helping you with core challenges and setbacks in your life to identify emotional blocks so that you can overcome them with confidence. I can show you how to create emotional skills and tools that will guide you forward and help you to achieve a greater sense of inner strength and resourcefulness.
